Tawny

Breed:  Labrador-x
Age:  7 months old
Good with dogs:  yes
Good with cats:  to follow
Weight:  40 lbs

Status: AVAILABLE

Tawny was surrendered to another rescue who could not help him! Rosie Animal Adoption could not turn our back on this cute little pup!  Tawny is on medication at the moment for Anemia.  It is very uncommon for a dog of this age to suffer from this.  By the looks of him, you would never know that he is suffering from Anemia.  He has been examined by  Dr. Enid Stiles, Pierrefonds Animal Hospital.  He is clean in the house, crate trained and even brings you his leash when he wants to go for a walk.  Loves playing with other dogs.  He has learnt his basic commands but now he needs a foster for the next 2 months.  He is being weaned off his medication at the moment. It is not contagious to other animals. When fostering for Rosie, it will only cost you your time and love!  Everything is supplied to you including medication, food, bowls, collar leash and cage!

Good with dogs
Cats unknown
Kids over 12

Status: AVAILABLE

Well, here I am, another statistic. I was found wandering on the highway, and was picked up by a very kind couple.  It was so good to get into their truck, I was really getting very scared out there. They brought me home and bathed me and cut out all the mats. It felt good, because I had so many fleas that I couldn't stop scratching. They sent an email to Rosie late at night, and by the next morning I was already a Rosie dog, was at the vet and finally was being treated for my fleas and itchy skin. Everyone has been so kind to me, and I really appreciate it. I am a friendly girl who is happy to be in your arms.  I love everyone and I'm just looking for a home to call my own.  More information will follow once I am in my foster home and the foster family gets to know me. If you think you would like a sweetie like me to share your home, please send in an application to adopt me, I'll be waiting.

Good with dogs:  Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: over 12
as she was a stray

Status: AVAILABLE

Hi! I'm a big girl who loves to play ball and frisbee with my foster parents. They say that I am the perfect dog!  I am clean in  the house, very gentle and obedient. I don't know many of the basic commands but I learn really fast and I walk pretty good on leash. I love everyone and I love to play with the dog I live with presently. There's also two cats and I just sniff them, I don't run after them, they're not very fun! I'd be very happy with a family who would take me for walks and play with me.  If you think you can give me a good home, please come to meet me!!!

Sweet Pea

Female
1 yr old
Good with dogs:  yes
Good with cats:  unknown
Good with kids:  over 12 -
as she was a stay

Status: AVAILABLE

Hi - Sweet Pea here (can you believe the name??) I was found wandering around and was taken to a pound. No one came looking for me, not sure why. I'm really a good girl, never did anything wrong, guess it was because of my eye. Well, lucky for me, Rosie came to the rescue and I was placed in a foster home. My foster mom called me Sweet Pea, and I came to her, hence the name.

The good folks at Rosie took me to the vet to be checked and vaccinated. I am in great health and my eye condition is something called entropian, where the lower eyelid turns in. Rosie has had a dog before with this condition, and simple eye surgery will make it as good as new. I would be so grateful if some of you could make a donation to cover some of the cost of the operation. Even though the surgery is not complicated, it will be expensive, and I feel guilty using up so much Rosie money just for me. Rosie is now making plans to have the operation done so by the time I get to my forever home, all will be taken care of.

I am having a great time at my foster home, playing with Lance, my foster brother. I love to roll around in the mud, and there's been so much of it this summer! I am great in the car, clean in the house, and just an all-around great girl.  I love it here, but know I must move on to my new home. If you think you have room for me, please call - I'll be waiting!

Jenna

    GSD-X
    Female
    1-1/2 YRS OLD
    Good with dogs: yes
    Good with cats:  unknown
Good with kids:  over 12 - she is a     stray

Status: AVAILABLE

Jenna was first seen at the pound last Saturday.  When the volunteers walked by the cages to see who they could save, while standing Jenna stuck her whole leg through the fence to tap one of the volunteers on the shoulder to say:  Hey, I'm here, why not me today!  Why can't I go to a home today!  Why not me?  She was so anxious to leave but we could not take her.  Of course we can't save them all...
On the Sunday, when the volunteers went again to take the neediest dogs, she did not get up from the corner of her dog run.....  Then we knew we had to rescue her.  It was her turn on Tuesday.
More info to follow on her.
Please complete an adoption questionnaire in order to meet him!

Bixby

Breed: Blue Merle Border Collie
Sex: Male
Age: 2-1/2 yrs
Good with dogs: yes
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: over 12
Weight: 45 lbs.

Status: AVAILABLE

Bixby is a gorgeous blue merle with a great personality! He was rescued from a shelter where he was spinning in his pen and prior to that, he was most inappropriately living in an apartment where he was left alone for at least eight hours a day—no life at all for this working dog! He is now staying in the country with an experienced handler who says that he is playful, friendly, housebroken, walks well on leash and is not a barker—oh, and no more spinning now that he's getting some well deserved attention. Bixby needs to be kept busy and would make a great agility dog.

ADOPTIONS: If you adopt from Rosie, your dog will be vet checked, vaccinated for DHPP and Rabies (if the dog is over 4 months), given a treatment for fleas and parasites as well as spayed or neutered before adoption. Our adoption fee is $300.00 which includes a voucher for a (1) training consultation or a grooming.
Rosie Animal Adoption is a proud member of CAACQ (Companion Animal Adoption Center of Québec)
Rosie Animal Adoption only rescues dogs - we are sorry that we are unable to rescue cats.
This organization is run entirely by volunteers - there are no paid employees. We try our best to save as many homeless dogs as possible. Since there are only a few volunteers, please understand that we are unable to answer phone calls about the animals. The first step is to fill out an adoption application which you can find at: www.rosieanimaladoption.org . You will be contacted only if you are a suitable match. Rosie Animal Adoption does not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. All showings are by appointment after your application has been approved or at adoption clinics. If you have any questions, please email us at rosieadoption@hotmail.com . Please note, we do not adopt strays to families with children under 12. All family members must be present at the time of adoption.

SURRENDERS: Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog. We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen.
